Strawberry Jones
Strawberry Jones, ladies and gents, is our very own powerhouse soul-diva in-residence. After starting out as a kid girl soloist with her local gospel church choir in south London, Strawberry went on to develop a glowing reputation as a highly-regarded London session singer. Strawberry joined the SFS team in spring 2008, and hasn't stopped blowing us away with her moving and emotional classic soul and mo'town vocals ever since. With groovy ballads, such as Hey Girl!, Take Good Care Of Yourself and Let's Find Trouble, Strawberry has contributed some of the most beautiful, moving music so far towards our collection of personalisable singles.
Strawberry set to work on recording her own debut soul album masterpiece, The Taste Of Strawberry, in autumn 2008, and we are over the moon to announce it as the first of our artist's albums available to order now exclusively from SongForSomeone!!
Jim Sweetheart
Jim grew up in the windswept hills of Northumberland, England where he spent his time dreaming up melodies whilst working as a specialist fruit picker. Before too long Jim travelled to London where he formed his band Sweetheart and played at the 02 Wireless festival, as well as having his music played on XFM radio, Radio 1 and Channel 4 television. Jim's SFS personalisable singles include the blaxploitation-inspired theme Hey Mr. Gigolo, the glam-rock stomper You're So Funny, as well as larger-than-life electronica anthems Fashion Victim and the instant-classic Addicted To Your Computer.
Jim is currently putting the finishing touches to his own forthcoming SFS debut album The Hearts And Minds Of Birds That Don't Fly featuring all of his SFS singles so far. So keep an eye out for that one in early 2009- coming soon folks!
Laura Woods
Soon after moving to London, Laura met Jim through a mutual buddy and musician, and after much chatting about a shared love of all music from classical to electronica, the two decided that Laura should hook up with SongForSomeone in her own right.
Having trained as an opera singer, Laura has previously appeared in stage productions by Verdi and Mozart, although after a short time trying out songs with Jim, the general feeling was that it would be cool to develop her repertoire as an electro-pop artist within the SongForSomeone family.
First up, we are very excited to introduce Laura's sci-fi-inspired, electro-dance-floor single What Planet Do You come From? which truly has to be heard to be believed folks. Much, much more is in the pipeline for Laura in early 2009, including several more out-of-this-world personalisable songs, as well as her debut full album feature to come soon after!
